Surface Energy

When using double-sided tape, we may find out some material is easy to adhere to and some are not. In the industrial bonding field, with the innovation of new technology, new materials might be hard to bond by regular PSA tapes.
This is why the first question we ask our customers is "What is the application?"  "What are you going to adhere to?"

Adhesion is the attractive force between molecules.

Each material has different surface energy, it has everything to do with the choice of the right adhesive tape. Imagine the water drop on a surface and its spread like a puddle, this means it has strong molecular attraction between two substrates. We can say this is a high surfaces energy material. On the other hand, if the water beads up when dropping on a surface, means it has weaker attraction forces. It's a low surface energy material.
